A finished basement is the least expensive way to add real living space to a Waterloo Region home — no foundation, no roof, no permit for an addition. The catch is that basements are unforgiving. They are colder, damper and noisier than the rest of the house, and shortcuts taken behind the drywall show up later as cold rooms, musty smells and cracked corners.

We handle the layer that decides how the finished space actually feels: insulation choice, vapour control, the boarding itself, and a taped finish that holds up.

What we handle

• Insulation — thermal on exterior walls and rim joists, acoustic batts in ceilings and around mechanical rooms so the basement is not a drum under your living room
• Boarding — walls, ceilings, bulkheads, soffits and the awkward boxing around ducts, beams and pipes, hung plumb and true
• Moisture-appropriate board — mould-resistant board where the space calls for it, and cement board behind basement bathroom tile
• Taping & finishing — Level 4 as standard, Level 5 where lighting or paint choice demands it
• Sound control — resilient channel and double-board assemblies for home theatres, offices and in-law suites
